Frequently Asked Questions

Common Family Questions

How do I know if assisted living is the right choice?+

Assisted living is often the right step when a loved one struggles with two or more daily activities (bathing, dressing, meals, medication), shows signs of cognitive decline, or when family caregivers are reaching burnout. A professional assessment from our care team can help clarify the picture.

What is the difference between assisted living and a nursing home?+

Assisted living provides a home-like environment with support for daily activities, while nursing homes (skilled nursing facilities) offer higher levels of medical care for complex, chronic conditions. Bethel is a residential assisted living home — smaller, more personal, and warmer than a traditional facility.

How often can family members visit?+

We welcome open family visitation. There is no visiting hours restriction — family members are encouraged to visit anytime and participate in activities and meals.

What happens if my loved one's care needs increase?+

Bethel offers three care levels. If a resident's needs change, we conduct a reassessment and update the care plan accordingly. In cases where needs exceed our scope of care, we assist families in finding appropriate next-level care and coordinate the transition.

How do you handle medical emergencies?+

24/7 staff are trained in first aid and emergency protocols. We maintain relationships with local physicians, home health agencies, and emergency services. For life-threatening emergencies, we call 911 immediately and notify family.

Can residents bring their own furniture and belongings?+

Absolutely. We encourage residents to personalize their rooms with familiar items — photos, bedding, small furniture — to create a true sense of home.

What does the activities program look like?+

Our activities director creates a rotating calendar of social, physical, spiritual, and cognitive enrichment activities — morning exercises, board games, movie nights, faith services, seasonal outings, and more.

Does Bethel accept long-term care insurance?+

Yes. We work with many long-term care insurance policies. Contact us with your policy information and we can help verify coverage and coordinate claims.
